Minto Shopping Centre

Category:
Construction Management

Area
21,000m2

Objectives
PMG Group were engaged by the owners of the Minto shopping centre to act as Principal Contractor on a complete transformation of the centre both inside and out. In this capacity, PMG needed to effectively manage and coordinate four teams of highly skilled architects, engineers, consultants and trades to deliver a much needed upgrade to this dilapidated shopping centre.

Outcomes

Through experience and an engaged and diligent approach the objectives were met and expectations exceeded. The scope was managed within the programme milestones to meet the practical completion date! The construction was managed without risk or injury. A daily safety regimen was implemented across the entire site according to the PMG Safety Management Plan.

Transparent communication and proactive project management achieved phenomenal results for the owners and the local community.

Highlights

With only two tenancies occupied on purchase, PMG acted on behalf of the owners to secure Woolworths and Kmart to the centre.

The shopping centre now boasts 98% occupancy and is a community hub for locals. Visitors can now enjoy a completely enhanced shopping experience.

The centre now attracts tenants and visitors alike, boasting a nice new welcoming food court, easy flow between stores and a much stronger retail selection than ever before. From a safety perspective, proudly there were no reportable injuries.

Challenges

Considerable structural work was required to accommodate the new stores. The coordination of all services consultants to upgrade the outdated services to bring them up to today’s codes posed their own challenge. With works being carried out internally, roof repairs had to be staged to perfection to ensure works proceeded on schedule.
