THE PROJECT
Cash Converters, a leading retail and financial services company, engaged PMG Group for an office fit-out and refurbishment project at their new location at 601 Coronation Drive, Brisbane. The challenge was to consolidate existing locations, establish a new Brisbane head office, and accommodate their team’s varying work styles, which include remote work and the need for allocated desks when on-site. Additionally, Cash Converters wanted a space that could incorporate future company growth while reflecting their corporate identity.
The area that Cash Converters acquired featured the former tenant’s branding elements and numerous colours, tired carpet, and built form that created a dull atmosphere. PMG’s task was to strip back these elements, open the space, introduce natural light, create a functional fit-out, and create a better connection between the teams that would remain modern.
DESIGN APPROACH:
PMG Group approached the project by working within the space to develop a functional workspace that catered to Cash Converters’ specific needs. The design took inspiration from Cash Converters’ Perth head office while incorporating elements of Brisbane’s vibrant personality. The design included assigned desks, a large modern training room, smaller focus rooms, a boardroom, and meeting spaces. The kitchen and breakout area were refreshed and modernised.
Working within much of the existing space, PMG employed clever refurbishment techniques. Existing desk screens were reupholstered, and large meeting room tables were repurposed or repainted, which minimised waste and reduced costs.

The kitchen area was revamped with new tiled splashbacks, countertops, and consistently finished cupboards. The lockers received a modern makeover, plants were added, and the furniture was upcycled to create a welcoming environment. New flooring and lighting solutions not only refreshed the space but also provided a contemporary atmosphere. PMG also addressed the outdoor balcony space with new furniture to provide a place to sit and enjoy scenic views across the river.
Results
The collaborative effort between Cash Converters and PMG Group resulted in a transformed workspace that met the company’s diverse needs. The modern and functional design not only provided a conducive environment for work but also showcased Cash Converters’ corporate identity. The incorporation of natural light, outdoor spaces, and flexible workstations contributed to employee well-being and productivity.
The project demonstrated PMG Group’s expertise in innovative office fit-outs and refurbishments. By reimagining existing elements, incorporating sustainable practices, and understanding the client’s unique requirements, PMG Group successfully delivered a workspace that aligned with Cash Converters’ vision and fostered a positive work culture.
