THE PROJECT
Cash Converters, a leading retail and financial services company, engaged PMG Group for an office fit-out and refurbishment project at their new location at 601 Coronation Drive, Brisbane. The goal was to establish a new Brisbane head office and accommodate various teamwork styles as well as the need for allocated desks, collaboration areas, and a large training room. Additionally, Cash Converters wanted a space that could incorporate future company growth while reflecting their corporate identity and brand.
Cash Converters acquired two adjoining tenancies that PMG was tasked with amalgamating. This project included stripping out the former tenant’s brand elements and colours, the old carpet, and built form that created a dull atmosphere. PMG connected the two tenancies together, which opened up the space, allowing for one large integrated workspace.
DESIGN APPROACH:
The design took inspiration from Cash Converters’ Perth head office while incorporating elements of Brisbane’s vibrant personality. The design elements included a full lighting upgrade and clever refurbishment techniques. Existing desk screens were reupholstered, and large meeting room tables were repurposed or repainted, which minimised waste and reduced costs.
The space was updated with dedicated workstations factoring in the different work ‘neighbourhoods’, a large modern training room, smaller focus rooms, a boardroom, private offices, and meeting spaces. The kitchen and breakout area were refreshed and modernised to better represent Cash Converters branding.

The kitchen area was revamped with new tiled splashback, countertops, and consistently finished cupboards. The lockers received a modern makeover, plants were added, and the furniture was upcycled to create a welcoming environment.
New flooring and lighting solutions not only refreshed the space but also provided a contemporary atmosphere. PMG also updated the outdoor balcony space with repurposed furniture to provide a place to sit and enjoy scenic views across the river.
Results
The collaborative effort between Cash Converters and PMG Group resulted in a transformed workspace that met the company’s diverse needs. The modern and functional design not only provided a conducive environment for work but also showcased Cash Converters’ corporate identity. The incorporation of natural light, outdoor spaces, and flexible work points contributed to employee well-being and productivity.

By reimagining existing elements, incorporating sustainable practices, and understanding the client’s unique requirements, PMG Group successfully delivered a workspace that aligned with Cash Converters’ vision and fostered a positive work culture.
