CREATING INSPIRING SPACES WITH TEXTURE

Texture is an important tool we use in interior design. It can add interest, depth and evoke our senses.

Texture adds visual interest to a space. It holds your gaze as you look over a space and draws your eye to particular areas or details. We can use it to zone an open space or to highlight different surfaces and planes. We play with the scale of the texture, the larger the scale the more the object is highlighted in the space.

Texture can be tactile. The texture can evoke your senses by the play of light. Light and shadow together can make you want to reach out and touch the object. It makes you wonder how the object may feel or evoke memories of a similar texture you have touched before. By introducing the right texture into a design we may be able to evoke an emotion from the user of the space.

Be it an accent or a key feature, texture is a favourite design element within our design studio in creating inspiring spaces.
