Practice Ignition

The design of the new PI office is many things. It’s a second home, a space to be inspired, a space to collaborate, a space to celebrate and a space to love!

THE BRIEF

After experiencing explosive growth, Accounting Software start-up, Practice Ignition, approached PMG to design a new workplace to house circa 60 staff.

The brief called for a design to keep the team inspired, productive and happy; one that was ‘grown-up’ yet reflective of the PI’s vibrant and team-oriented culture.

To accommodate different tasks and work styles, the layout needed to include various work and collaboration zones. The company also required plenty of space to host team meetings, video calls and regular celebratory get-togethers, with polished concrete floors and exposed ceilings non-negotiable.

THE RESULTS

A bold, custom mural by Cara Jane Diffey, complete with rockets, ping pong, dogs and disco parrots, is the first thing staff and visitors see when they enter the office. Layered with a neon P, the mural fearlessly amplifies the Practice Ignition brand.

Colourful paint and textured wallpapers, polished concrete floors and exposed services add an urban feel and pay homage to the company’s first home; a converted mechanic’s garage in Chippendale. And the addition of several social spaces, breakout areas and collaborative zones, channels PI’s social culture.

The company’s much-loved ping pong table sits in the centre of the games room (the start of the fun zone), drawing staff and visitors out onto the balcony; an inner-city oasis, complete with timber decking, AstroTurf and varied outdoor furniture; perfect for outdoor team meetings, company-wide BBQ’s and Friday afternoon drinks.
