Gallagher operates 30 offices across Australia, providing insurance brokerage, risk management, and consulting services. PMG is a trusted partner in delivering Gallagher’s national workplace transformation, shaping environments that align with their operational needs and business strategy. This collaboration spans multiple office spaces, including their Australian headquarters in North Sydney.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Creating an environment that encourages employees to return to the office was a priority, with spaces designed to enhance interaction and knowledge sharing. Strengthening connections between teams was also a key focus, ensuring senior leaders could engage directly with staff. The workplace needed to be adaptable, supporting workforce growth over the lease term.
FROM STRATEGY TO DESIGN
PMG developed Gallagher’s workplace strategy through a national review of their existing spaces. Insights from executive collaboration, site observations, and data analysis informed a tailored blueprint, aligning workplace design with business objectives and culture.
NEIGHBOURHOODS FOR COLLABORATION
The office is structured around ‘neighbourhoods’ – distinct zones supporting specific teams and activities. Arranged to reflect communication flows, these adaptable spaces allow for both assigned and unassigned seating, with personal storage lockers ensuring functionality.
BALANCING FOCUS AND INTEGRATION
A mix of work settings accommodates different tasks and preferences. Focus and phone rooms are integrated within each neighbourhood, providing quiet spaces for concentrated work or private conversations. Meeting rooms are purpose-built in various sizes and configurations to meet operational needs. Informal collaboration areas feature acoustically designed high-back lounges, encouraging impromptu discussions without disrupting others.
DESIGN SOLUTIONS
The North Sydney office blends elevated domesticity with a premium, client-facing aesthetic. The reception sets a sophisticated tone with deep blue feature ceilings, stone finishes, and curved forms. Meeting rooms feature switchable glass to frame harbour views, while the boardroom balances refined materials with functional design.
A central working café spans two floors, linked by a custom spiral staircase. This space functions as both a social hub and a venue for town halls and training, equipped with flexible seating and integrated smart technology. Timber finishes and natural light enhance warmth and openness, creating an inviting atmosphere that fosters connection.
In the workspace, Gallagher’s brand colours are subtly woven into a palette of soft blues, warm timbers, and contrasting accents. Ergonomic sit-to-stand desks and premium workstations support a largely desk-based workforce, prioritising comfort and longevity.
ACCELERATED DELIVERY
The construction timeline was condensed to ensure Gallagher’s headquarters was operational ahead of an international executive visit. PMG delivered the project three weeks early, managing an accelerated program without compromising quality.
PMG’s site team demonstrated agility and precision, resolving challenges to maintain progress. The project included upgrades to building services, and base build amenities, ensuring a high-performance workplace aligned with Gallagher’s standards.
