Talavera Corporate Centre

Modern and functional refurbishment
for gym and end of trip amenities.

SIZE
118sqm

CLIENT OBJECTIVES
Goodman engaged PMG to refurbish, design and build the existing gym and end of trip facilities in the Talavera Corporate Centre, Macquarie Park, Sydney.

  • EOT Amenity: The existing end-of-trip facilities required a refresh. The partitioning in the male and female bathrooms took up excessive space. The client wanted to eliminate the gender-specific partitions and create individual shower rooms instead.
  • Bathroom Layout: The client required a design that maintained the existing accessible toilet setout while also adding a new ambulant toilet for compliance.
  • Gym Area: The gym’s aesthetics were uninspired with a predominantly monochromatic scheme, and an exposed, painted black ceiling. The client sought to introduce warmth and colour to make the gym a more inviting and inspiring space.
  • Custom Design Requests: The client also requested specific fixtures in gunmetal grey and a preference for a part-height tile detail in the bathrooms, which they hoped to replicate in future projects.

DESIGN SOLUTIONS
PMG implemented a range of design solutions including:

  • Multiple floor plan iterations overcame compliance challenges, resulting in four individual, gender-neutral toilet and shower rooms.
  • Maintained existing accessible toilet setout and added an ambulant toilet for compliance.
  • Bathrooms feature a part-height tile detail, set to be replicated in future projects.
  • Sourced gunmetal grey fixtures
  • Retained the black exposed ceiling in the gym, using forest green as a base colour for walls, with lighter shades for cohesion.
  • Added a timber-look vinyl flooring and soft grey sheer curtains to create warmth and inspire.

OUTCOME

  • The renovation successfully met the client’s objectives, resulting in refreshed and functional EOT facilities and a gym area that is now warm and inspiring. The design solutions not only addressed the existing issues but also introduced elements that the client intends to replicate in future projects.
